Workmanship vs Performance
LittleFerretArt
Wednesday, January 19, 2022 4:04 AMIm still very new to showing and get the general idea for a lot of it. However I’m still a bit confused as to what Workmanship really means? Is that paint quality and overall conformation/quality of a model?
And performance is based on eventing and competing, right? Like show jumping, barrel racing, pulling, etc?
Thanks in advance!

Wednesday, January 19, 2022 5:36 AMHey there!
Workmanship has to do with all the artistic workmanship of the model. The conformation doesn't really come into play - that is for "halter" or "breed" classes - but the quality and execution of the paint work and sculpt work are taken into account.
Yes, performance is basically setting up a photo that looks like a snapshot of a real horse competition/event. While workmanship and halter classes usually have just a photo of the model by itself so it can be judged on the aforementioned conditions, performance classes have a horse tacked up with props and performing a scene such as the ones you mentioned :)
