Breed assignments!

Monday, December 16, 2024 4:21 AMHi, I started OMHPS in September but I haven't entered any shows yet. I was wondering if some of you could look at my profile and help me with breed assignments for my horses? I have no idea where to start! I just put the breeds that my models were listed as so ignore that :-)
Thank you :-)

Tuesday, December 17, 2024 2:43 PMThe first thing I would recommend is to get pictures of your horses from a direct side angle where they can be seen well. Right now, a lot of them are kind of looking down on the horse from above, and there's sometimes other stuff in the way, and they're hard to see. If you click around in the show classes you'll get an idea of what other people's pictures look like.
Your breed assignments all look fine to me as they are.

Sunday, December 22, 2024 7:38 AMHi, thank you, this was helpful! I haven't had the time to actually take proper photos, I've been looking at other people's horses and I think I'm going to try and find some backgrounds and take some more professional looking photos, plus try and work on show names for my models. Thanks :-)

Thursday, December 26, 2024 2:37 PMWelcome to OMHPS. You have some nice models. I agree the breed assignments look fine.
When you're ready to take your show photos, if you don't have a lighting system, natural sunlight can work well, especially on cloudy days to reduce both glare and harsh shadows. I took a lot of my original photos by setting up a "studio" on a table near a large picture window, and most turned out pretty well. Sometimes you have to experiment with the lighting a bit -- like seeing how the light works at different times of the day. Good lighting is really important so all the details of the model are clear and details aren't hidden in shadow.
Hope this helps.
