References
American Shire In the early years of the American Shire Horse Association (ASHA), due to scarcity, fillies born to unregistered or grade mares fitting the breed description and purebred Shire stallions were permitted in Shire registry. This led to some lines carrying recessive dilute genes, which can result in purebred Shires with buckskin or other dilute coat colors. A lovely example of this coloring is Freedom’s Jolie Prize, pictured, who was bred by Tintagel Andalusians and is a double registered American Shire/American Drum Horse Mare. Jolie is now owned by hobbyist Kylee Parks. Sources: Link Link
