References: Nez Perce Horse The Nez Perce is a breed of horse originating from crossing Appaloosa mares with the Nez Perce Tribe’s four Akhal-Teke stallions to produce a versatile sport-type horse with Appaloosa coloring. Nez Perce horses can have no more than 7/8ths Appaloosa or 7/8ths Akhal-Teke blood, and their registration must be approved by the Nez Perce Tribe. Nez Perce horses are valued for their elegant, flowing movements and willing attitude. A well set, sloping shoulder, medium length back, and long, muscular croup are desirable.
