Azteca The Azteca was developed in the 1970s by combining Quarter Horse, Andalusian, and Criollo bloodlines to produce a versatile horse with the spirit and grace of an Andalusian and the cow sense, speed, and agility of the Quarter Horse and Criollo. Paint Horses are also eligible as breeding stock, but like the Quarter Horses, they must be less than ΒΌ Thoroughbred to be eligible for an Azteca breeding program. All AQHA and APHA approved colors and markings are acceptable, and many Aztecas will exhibit the long, flowing mane and tail from their Andalusian influence. The Azteca will ideally possess a long, sloping shoulder with powerfully muscled hindquarters and a medium to low set tail. Their free shoulder and hip give the Azteca their smooth ride and athleticism. Source: Link
