References: The Spanish Spotted Saddle Horse is a medium sized, versatile, high quality riding horse with the type, conformation, noble character, and elevated, extensive movement of the baroque PRE Horse combined with a spectacular spotted phenotype and luxurious mane and tail. The modern breed replicates the characteristics of the Spotted Purebred Spanish Horse, a favorite mount of Royalty and Nobility throughout Britain and Europe in the 16th, 17th &18th centuries. Ideal conformation includes: a long, slightly convex head, a sloping shoulder, a short, strong back, and a powerful, sloping croup. The main stud book allows any base color, but requires a horse to show LP characteristics. Horses are classed from 1 to 5, with 1 being the highest percentage of PRE blood (93.75% or higher) and 5 requiring a minimum of 25% PRE blood. The ideal Spanish Spotted Saddle Horse has 90% or higher PRE blood as well as displaying LP characteristics.
