Does the breed of the horse matter for workmanship classes?
Lacey-Lab
Tuesday, August 9, 2022 1:44 PMI had a horse disqualified in a workmanship class as apparently that breed doesn’t come in that colour. I always thought that workmanship classes were judged based on the quality/craftsmanship of the custom rather than breed? As this is what breed classes are for? I would love some advice on how these classes are judged as I never seem to do as well in workmanship as I do in breed classes. Do I need any references for colour etc? Thanks :)

Tuesday, August 9, 2022 2:08 PMI checked out your DQ'd model, andalusians can come in dun! The judge just needed to google it.
I hope that they do their research in the future, as another model was DQ'd for the same reason...

Tuesday, August 9, 2022 5:01 PMMy model was DQd as well for the same reason. Dun Lusitano DQd as "Lusitanos can't be dun", where dun is allowed in the breed and there are living horses like that.
I also always thought that Workmanship is, well, for workmanship. So great work, accuracy, detail, prepping and paintjob. Breed shouldn't be taken into consideration, as that has no sense because that's what Halter is for. If breed will be taken into consideration in Workmanship, I think that should be noted beforehand, as that's not a common thing and leads to unfair DQs.
