Keep them in boxes or...?

I recently bought on FB marketplace Smarty Jones, Zippo Pine Bar, and Smart Chic Olena, all brand new in their boxes, for twenty bucks each. I want to take them out of their boxes and display them, but will that take away most of their value?

Thanks! 🙂

That really depends on their condition of their boxes and the models. If you take them out and find a bi ol' box rub, then yes, it will decrease value. Many collectors (including myself) prefer to purchase models out of the box, in order to fully see all flaws. Others like to keep them NIB. It is very variable, and I can't really give a clear answer without seeing them. However, you can probably take them out of the box without too much risk seeing how cheap you got them. I think that they probably won't dip beneath the price you bought them at (keeping in mind I do not know their condition). :)

From what I have learned, taking them out of box will decrease value. I sold a NIB Grullo Pinto (Ethereal mold), for $110, when out of box models (in excellent condition) sell for much less.

If you bought them with intent to display them out of box, do that. I wouldn’t worry about value if you intend to keep them.

If you bought them as an investment/bought them to sell, I would recommend to keep them in their boxes.

I agree about the Ethereal, but with WesternRider15's models, none of them are quite as desirable/collectable as Ethereal. I see your point though and I am certainly not saying you are wrong or I am right. :)

And yes, it definitely all depends on what you plan to do with them. :)

I would think that it would still be the same pattern, just not as extreme.

Yes, it entirely depends on what you’re planning on doing with them! :)
