OMHPS Plans & Ideas

Thursday, November 19, 2020 2:37 PMThe site is just starting out, and we have so many plans to expand and features to implement already. Before making a suggestion, here are some things we are already planning on/in the process of doing. Some of these may change or not happen, so none of these are promises - however, they are suggestions we already have for site changes :)
- Performance, collectibility, and workmanship categories
- This is already partially implemented. We plan on having each horse have different photos under the same entity that can be entered into shows. For example, you have HorseA. HorseA has a main page just like the horses do now, with a main photo and information about breed, make, etc. It will also have a "Performance" tab where you can upload multiple performance entries for the same horse. Say you have it in setups for both Barrel Racing and Cutting using the same horse. Both can be uploaded under HorseA with their own photo, description, and reference links. Each individual entry will have its own show record but the record also applies to HorseA's entire show career and awards. This way, things are nicely organized and records kept in a way that you don't have to see a horse's entire show career over a bunch of separate entities. This will also apply to collectibility and workmanship entries so that horses can enter more than once in the same show if that show has both breed classes AND any of the other types. They can't enter more than once otherwise.
- You may have noticed there are unclickable tabs on the Shows page, for Organization Shows and User Hosted Shows
- User Hosted Shows are pretty self-explanatory - they are shows hosted by site users. Organization Shows are different, however. The plan is to implement a feature for users to form "Organizations." Multiple people can join the organization and can create a show under the name of the Organization. This way, all the people who are in the group can edit the show. People can only join the organization if added by the original creator of it. This is useful for people co-hosting shows or hosting shows for companies. We may change the name of this later - suggestions are welcome for that!
I will update this list as we go :)

A- Suggestion
I think an “other” category for each division would be good in case there is a breed not listed so someone doesn’t have to pick a different breed.
B- Bug?
I just tried to email you using the email in the FAQ section and it couldn’t be delivered because “550 5.1.1 The email account that you tried to reach does not exist.”
C- Breed Addition
Could you add Vanner Ponies
D- Question 1
How to we enter/register for a show?
E- Question 2
When a horse is a crossbreed, how is a class assigned

Sunday, March 7, 2021 4:16 AMHi saa27! Thank you for your comment.
A - The current show has an "other" class under longears/exotics/others. This is where any horses that don't fit anywhere else can go. Shows hosted on OMHPS can be user-hosted, as well (such as the 8-Bit show that's up right now) so it's up to them to decide their class list and divisions :) Hope that makes sense!
B - This may be because of a spam protection in place - if you copy the email directly from that page, it will show up reversed on your email. You can type in omhps@omhps.com manually and it should work.
C - The breed list includes Irish Cobs, which are the same as normal Vanners, but I do know mini Vanners are on the rise and I will look into adding them.
D - The two shows currently on the site do not require any sort of formal sign-up, they are open to everyone on the site. Future shows may have a specific entrant list that requires sign-up (wherever the host requires it, such as Facebook or via email, or here on the forum), in which the host can restrict the entrants to only people that have signed up. You should be able to see all classes your horses are eligible for on each of your horse's pages - enter the classes right there and you're in!
E - Since horses can be crossbred with anything, the classes for crossbreds are open for any breed, but are marked as "crossbred only." A horse with just 1 primary breed would not be able to join that class. For a part-bred horse, it is up to the owner of that horse to decide which crossbred class it goes in. For example, if you have a horse that is part Arabain, looks very Arabian like, but is crossed with something that isn't an Arabian, you should put it in the Other Light Part/Cross class, because Arabians show under the Light section. I would pick whatever your horse looks most like in breed type (Light, Stock, Draft, etc.). If this doesn't make sense, let me know and I can try to explain it further :)

So the two shows that are open now our horses are automatically entered or how do we enter our horses into a class?
pipapones
Sunday, March 7, 2021 1:59 PMYou do have to enter them into each class. You can do so by going to the show and clicking on the class individually, there is an "enter" button for each, and it will show you which horses you own are eligible for the class. You can also go to the horse's page and see what classes they are eligible for, although at the moment it may have slow loading times due to the sheer amount of classes running currently. Hopefully that will get better as we optimize how the site runs :)

Sunday, March 14, 2021 12:25 PMSuggestion: would love to be able to search for other users by their username :) I have friends who joined and I'd love to ogle their ponies!

Wednesday, March 17, 2021 4:11 PMOh, that's an interesting idea! Perhaps that's something we can implement in the future - that is a great way to enjoy some model horse eye candy!

Thursday, March 25, 2021 7:33 AMI'm really enjoying the site so far! I interested in possibly hosting a fun show sometime this spring, and I have a few quick questions:
What is the cost for hosting an organization-hosted show? Does it use PSH tokens or something else?
How soon is the performance/collectibility/workmanship update planned to be live?

Thursday, March 25, 2021 10:22 AMHi Anna! I'm glad to hear you're enjoying it so far :)
The cost for an organization-hosted show will be the same as regular user-hosted shows, with PSH tokens. Right now the organization feature is not fully implemented, but essentially you will be able to create an organization, add users to that organization, and buy PSH tokens under that organization that anyone in the organization can use to host a show (for the organization only, not a private show).
Right now we don't have an exact ETA for the other showing types. We are about to push a new update with new features (one of which I felt was important to add as soon as possible and was highly requested, and a couple others that have been requested and help make things easier for people in general). After that, the next big update will be My Horses organization/filtering since that's highly requested, and understandable for people with many horses. I'd imagine that'll be within the next month - with the top priority following that being performance/workmanship/collectibility entries.
Hopefully soon, after these next two updates, we can give a more exact timeframe on when that will be added. The system for those entries will be a bit different but should be a better alternative to uploading the same horse under multiple performance types over and over again. Additionally, you could still do collectability/workmanship classes before that update, the only difference will be that you can't yet set classes to be for certain things like color (or however else you want to split workmanship classes). One of the user-hosted shows on the site now is doing workmanship :)
