Desert Heat summer show - Check your entries

Monday, August 5, 2024 10:01 AM

I'm seeing a lot of CM, non-Breyer, non-traditional size... please remove these as the show states it is for OF Traditional Breyers. They will be disqualified. [Edited: There are some classes where the only entrants are CM/non-Breyer/etc... I will go ahead and judge those under the circumstances.]

Really hoping to get a few more performance entries. LMK if you are having trouble entering. I'm hoping when the site gets updated that the process of setting the parameters for a show can be a little more user-friendly.

I've checked mine and they're all fine, but I think a few classes must have incorrect settings - Perfectly Eligible and the big green Enter button are showing up for horses where they shouldn't be. One class is showing me all my custom Stablemates and CollectA repaints. We tend to trust the site is picking the right horses to show us, and click away at any which flash up green with such an encouraging message to go ahead and enter them, so I can easily see how entrants might've just entered whatever it was saying was a perfectly eligible model.

Agree with HarecroftHorses on trusting the site to tell us which models are eligible. It sounds like the criteria wasn't configured to allow only the models you specified, but there's a fix. Once the show is in process, you can contact the Admin and ask that the criteria for the show be changed to the correct parameters. They're usually pretty quick about making the corrections. (They've had to make corrections for my past shows and it's always been done promptly. :) ) Not sure what will happen with the incorrect models already entered though.

When you talk to the Admin you can also ask how to set up the criteria when you create a show so the wrong types of models can't be entered.

Hope this helps.

TBH I think I got so tired from setting all the breed parameters that I thought 'people can just read the instructions for the rest'... LOL. I should know better.

Yeah, unfortunately not everyone reads the instructions or the class criteria. I generally do, but I apparently had a major fail this time. :/ I guess I was so focused on choosing models that met the breed criteria, I totally forgot that it was supposed to be OF Breyers only. I've made corrections, so hopefully each of my entries meet the critieria now. :)

I know it's tedious to set up all the criteria (although the copy class, section and division functions can sometimes help with that a bit) but the flip side of that is if the criteria isn't set, when an entrant wants to enter a class they are given the choice of everything in their stable -- all horse breeds, dogs, cats, fish, and anything else they have in the database. Many just don't bother to enter then because it's such a chore to scroll through a huge list of models for every class they want to enter.

Oh, I didn't think of that issue, that it would help people to narrow down more. Next time I will set all the parameters.

Like Zialander said, you can absolutely email omhps@omhps.com to make fixes even if the show is open. We also highly recommend using the set division/section defaults during show creation because it speeds things up a LOT. The most efficient way to set up a show for me is this:

  1. Create a division's class list by adding all your sections and classes, just names for now
  2. Go through and add all the breeds (or colors for workmanship, performance types for performance) to each class parameters - no need to touch the make, size, etc., just the parameter that is different per class.
  3. Use the set division defaults tool and set all classes to have the right make(s) and size(s) (and anything else that is consistent through every class in the division) all at once in one click.

That cuts down the chance of incorrect entries super fast and without having to do it per class. Way easier :)
