Run for the Roses Thoroughbred Specialty Show
As we approach the First Saturday in May and the running of the Kentucky Derby, the Thoroughbred takes center stage in the sports world. This model horse show is to showcase and celebrate the Thoroughbred breed. Open to Thoroughbreds only. The show opens April 18 and closes May 2, 2022 (two weeks) and is a FREE SHOW. Please note you won’t be able to enter classes until registration opens on April 18. This is an all halter/workmanship show – no tack or riders, unless molded on or permanently attached. Thoroughbred model ornaments (not globes or 2D style) or release types (such as Hands Down) are welcome in correct scale/finish classes. Standard OMHPS ribbons awarded to 10th Place. Standard OMHPS Section Champions and Reserves and Division Champions and Reserves. Host may opt to issue special awards in addition.
(1) Classes are for Thoroughbreds only. See descriptions for where your model best fits. This show will not be stewarded. (2) No tack or riders, unless molded on or permanently attached. (3) Each model may enter 1 class in each of 3 divisions-GENDER, WORKMANSHIP, and ACTION (pose type). (4) Each exhibitor may enter up to 5 different models in each class. Classes are limited to 100 entries each. (5) Any background is acceptable. (6) Photos must meet OMHPS guidelines. (7) Class winners will compete for Section Champion/Reserve. Section Champions will compete for Division Champion/Reserve. (8) No profane or vulgar model names, please. (9) Large classes may be split at judge’s discretion. (10) Judge’s decisions are final.

For Thoroughbreds only – no mixes or grades. Judged on characteristics of the breed/model including gender, conformation, mechanics, condition, and photo dynamics. Rarity, number produced and value of model are not a factor. Reference information is highly recommended if the Thoroughbred is a specific type. This division has sections for solid coat color or patterned coat, and is judged on finish details, workmanship, color/shading, condition and photo dynamics. Open to all brands, finishes, and scales. Foals welcome. For this show, ROANS of all colors will go under the PATTERNED SECTION. NOTE: For this division you will need to have the Workmanship tab completed on your model’s page.

This is a halter division where the classes are grouped by pose. (Something a little different!) Judging is based on the pose dynamics, conformation in relation to the Thoroughbred breed, condition, physical mechanics and photo dynamics. Foals are welcome. Includes a head study class.

For Thoroughbreds in Classic scale or larger that are prancing (may include side-stepping, Spanish Walk or passage).
For Thoroughbreds in Classic scale or larger that are cantering or loping.
For Thoroughbreds in Classic scale or larger that are galloping, running, racing or in a hand gallop.
For Thoroughbreds in Classic scale or larger that are in the process of hunting or jumping (with at least two feet off the ground).
For Thoroughbreds in Classic scale or larger that are lying down or rolling.

Head study for Thoroughbreds in Classic scale or larger. Just the head and a portion of the neck should be included in a close-up where the horse's expression and facial details are clearly visible.
