- The Rabicano Pattern in Purebred Arabians One of the three acceptable color patterns found in purebred Arabians, rabicano is the most unique. Similar to roaning, the rabicano pattern is characterized by interspersed white hairs, on a solid colored horse. Where these two patterns differ, however, is that roans will have the intermixed hairing on most of their body and will retain their solid coloring on the head, legs, mane, and tail, while a rabicano will vary on how much of the coat contains the mixed white hairing. Most of these white hairs are concentrated on the barrel of the horse and produce distinctive ticking in parallel vertical lines on the barrel. A rabicano horse will have a tail with a white base and will often have white hairs mixed with the solid colored strands on the tail and mane. Source: Link
