Section D Welsh Cob An extremely versatile breed, the Welsh Pony is separated into four subsections, A & D for the ponies and C & D for cob type ponies and cobs. A Section D Welsh Cob exceeds 13.2 hh and is a much heavier version of the original Welsh Pony, due to outcrosses with Hackneys, Arabians, and Norfolk Roadsters. These cobs feature heavy substance of bone and bold trotting action, which make them highly desirable as both driving and saddle mounts. Welsh Cobs may come in any color and moderate feathering is permitted, so long as they are silky in texture and not wiry. With a compact and muscular build, their hindquarters are long and strong through the croup, with a moderately high set tail. Stallions often exhibit cresty necks, while mares are leaner. Heads are pony like, with Roman noses and coarseness about the head penalized. Source: Link
