- Color is based off of that of my real Colorado Ranger. Colorado Ranger The Colorado Ranger is a breed of stock horse created in the United States that can trace it’s lineage to one of two horses; Patches number one or Max number two. Approximately 90% of Colorado Rangers are dual registered with the Appaloosa horse club, but being an Appaloosa does not automatically make a horse a Colorado Ranger. These horses typically stand between 14.1 and 16 hands. They can be any solid color or Appaloosa, but pinto markings do not occur. They have straight facial profiles, a long neck, sloping shoulders and croup, and a deep chest. They are typically used as ranch horses.
