Revolutionary Rhodes

Revolutionary Rhodes was originally released as a bay Standardbred in Breyer's Mystery Horse Surprise Series 6. He was then repainted as a red roan Narragansett Pacer to honor this now-extinct foundational pacing breed.

References
The Narragansett Pacer was a foundational breed for pacing and walking breeds such as the Standardbred and Tennessee Walking Horse, likely filling similar riding roles. This American breed was developed and recognized in the early 1700s but went extinct only a century later due to trade restrictions during the Revolutionary War and its inability to adapt as a carriage horse. Due to absence of studbooks and registries, evidence of the Narragansett Pacer is often left to newspaper articles, race ads, and books. While this doesn’t offer its entire history, they do shape some of the breed’s characteristics such as Chestnut or Sorrel coats and roan dilutions.
