The Appaloosa Sport Horse is a result of 20th century breeding between Thoroughbreds and Appaloosas. Given this breeding, these horses can sport any appaloosa pattern (blanket, leopard, snowcap, etc.) over any coat color (black, bay, palomino, cremello, etc.) depending on the parents.
Reference image: This is an Appaloosa Sport Horse mare, "Ava Minted Design." She appears to be palomino or dunalino, but genetically tested as a grulla, or black with dun dilution. The palomino/dunalino appearance was likely caused by another dilution factor to "lighten" the coat a step further.
