- The American Blazer Horse was developed by F. Neil Hinck and is founded on his stallion, Little Blaze. Hinck wanted to bring back the qualities of the old ranch-style horses that he felt were lacking in the horses of the time. To create this horse, he bred his Thoroughbred-Morgan-Shetland Pony mare, Star, to a foundation Quarter Horse of the Peppy line, Peppy 3, Blazers are incredibly long-lived, sound, and have keen intellect, heart and willing dispositions. They are solid colored horses with dark underlying skin (pinto, appaloosa, double dilutes and champagne are not permitted). Mature horses stand between 13 and 15 hands. Horses must be a direct descendant of foundation sire Little Blaze to qualify for registration.
