There is a lot of unknown information on the Friesian horse reference. In Dr. Sponenberg's third edition of Equine Color Genetics, this mare was labeled as a "Blue Silver" meaning a Blue shade Black-base Silver. However, the Silver gene has never existed in the breed. Through a recent discussion on an equine color genetics Facebook group, it was concluded that the horse is actually likewise a super dark Liver Chestnut with the Flaxen gene and possibly the Sooty gene as well.
