Original horse "Moor OF366" was double registered as East-Friesian and Groninger. He was born in Suurhusen in East-Frisia as East-Friesian and was later approved as a breeding stallion for Groninger. He has a registered number of the East Friesian Studbook (OF366 - OF = Ostfriese = East Friesian). His parents were also registered East Friesians (sire Lordmajor (blue roan) and dam Mariechen). This color was not unusual for East Friesians in the past.
Reference photo of Moor on page 6 in the book "Het Paard in zijn Kleurenrijkdom" by K. Wiersema (The stallion "Mussolini" on the photo above is also called a Groninger and has an East Friesian branding, because he was double registered.):
