- The Chilean Corralero, also known as the Chilean Criollo horse, is the national horse of Chile. Similar in bloodlines to the more well-known Criollo of Argentina, the Chilean version is slightly stockier in confirmation. They are bred and used as a work animal, primarily for cattle herding. Although not a well-known breed, there are around 85,000 Chilean Corralero horses in existence. Chilean Criollo horses can occur in any possible coat color. They are powerful work horses commonly used for carrying packs, as cattle-working horses, and are nowadays often used in rodeos. Thick and full tails are highly desirable in the breed, and are often seen styled with a higher-cut base than the traditional quarter horse’s full-tail style.
