Caspian Native to Iran, the Caspian is a rare, ancient light breed that almost went extinct, but for careful preservation attempts made in the 1960s. They are prized for their incredible jumping ability and as an excellent driving horse. Although their height range is capped at 12hh, the Caspian’s proportions resemble a scaled down horse, rather than a pony type. They are quite unique in that most of the horse’s growth occurs rapidly in the first year and a half of their life. Caspian horses have wide, vaulted foreheads with a clean throatlatch and deep heart girth. They are characteristically slim in their build and, due to their mountainous origins, may have a bit more angle to their hocks than other breeds. Caspians come in all equine colors except pinto patterns. Sources: Link Link
