References: The Suffolk Punch is a medium sized draft with an average height of 16 to 16.2 hands, although they can range all the way down to 15.2 and up to 17.2 and higher. They are always Chestnut in color. The shades range from very light all the way to liver with many in between. The main and tail and lower legs can sometimes be a lighter shade than the body. The legs have very little feather and the tail is not docked. White markings are sometimes seen, but not common. Suffolks are extremely short, squat horses. They have very short cannon bones and are naturally camped under. Their body is extremely wide with a deep chest and just as much depth through the loin as the girth, giving them the punch part of their name. they have short, arched, cresty necks, free-flowing movement at the walk and trot, and a generally powerful appearance.
