- The Jeju horse is a horse breed native to the Jeju Island in South Korea. There is a diverse array of types, each differently identified depending on their coat color. Wallama type is pinto colored. Jeju horses are short and stocky, with long, blocky bodies and large heads atop thick necks. They often look more like ponies than horses. Mares can stand just over 11 hands, with stallions reaching a little over 12 hands at most. Jeju horses mature well in harsh conditions due to their strength and fitness. With an outstanding tolerance of low temperatures, they have been mostly pastured without the need for horse blankets or stables.
