- The Canadian Cutting has a high proportion of Quarter Horse blood. It is one of Canada’s leading horse breeds. This horse is one of the oldest breeds in the United States of America. They possess what is known as “cattle sense”: like shepherd’s animals, some horses are able to naturally lead livestock and thus help the farmer’s work. Link A "chocolate dun" horse refers to a horse that carries both the dun dilution gene and a base coat color that is primarily black, resulting in a diluted, smoky, or mousy-colored coat with the typical dun markings. The dun gene lightens the body while leaving the mane, tail, legs, and primitive markings the shade of the undiluted base coat color. In this case, the base color is black, which, when diluted by the dun gene, creates a chocolate-brown or smoky-gray body. Link
