Missouri Fox Trotter was developed from Arabians, Morgan’s, and plantation horses from the Deep South. Later, American Saddlebred, Tennessee Walking Horse and Standardbred blood was added to the stock, resulting in a horse with a more pleasing appearance and disposition. Because they were bred from working stock horses, Missouri Fox Trotters are built for strength. With that, they are exceptionally surefooted and have a very unique gait that helps them handle difficult terrains.
