References: Drum Horse The Drum Horse is a relatively new breed that models the characteristics of the working drum horses of the Queen of England’s Household Cavalry. These horses can be any genetic combination of Clydesdale, Shire, and Gypsy Vanner, where the genetic contribution from the Gypsy Horse is greater than 6.25% but does not exceed 50%. Horses are DNA tested prior to being allowed to register as a Drum Horse. The desired height at maturity is 16hh or taller and feathering is a breed requirement, with an abundant mane and tail being desirable as well. Drum horses may be any color, both solid and painted. The breed is known for its strength, agility, and athleticism, combining the tremendous power and easy temperament of the breeds it was derived from to produce a superbly versatile horse.
