References: The Dartmoor Hill Pony is separate from the Dartmoor Pony breed because it is only open to those ponies born on Dartmoor, but not necessarily a purebred registered Dartmoor Pony. The Dartmoor Hill Pony Association recognizes a wide range of colors including pinto, dun, buckskin, grulla, roan, grey, and even leopard complex (spotted) are sometimes seen. The breed is a good size and temperament for a children’s mount, but can carry an adult. They are mainly used for hunting, trail riding, showing, jumping, dressage, and driving, as well as everyday riding. Because of the extreme weather conditions experienced on the moors, the Dartmoor Hill Pony is a particularly hardy breed with excellent stamina. References: Link, Link, Link
