References: Przewalski’s Horse The Przewalski’s Horse is the only truly wild horse left in the world. They nearly went extinct but careful breeding in captivity in the 1960s and re-introduction into the wild has brought their numbers back up. They live wild in Mongolia and are once again reproducing there, although they are still endangered. Przewalski’s are very primitive looking, with an upright mane, a long dock with short tail hairs, and hooves that are longer in the front and have a thicker sole than domestic horses. They have short legs, a stocky build, and stand between 12 and 14 hands. They are always dun, often with leg barring and pangare.
