References: Welara Pony A relatively new pony type, the Welara was established as a breed in 1981 to register the resulting offspring of Arabian and Welsh Pony crosses. Welara ponies are bred to exhibit the prime qualities of both breeds, and are versatile, highly intelligent mounts that are large compared with most pony breeds. Featuring the elegant dished face of the Arab and the small, sturdy stature of the Welsh Pony, Welaras may come in any coat color except for spotted patterns.
