References: The Gotland Russ or Gotland Pony is an old Swedish breed of pony or small horse. [See reference photos of splash white bay and chestnut Gotland stallions.] Until the 20th century it was found only on the small island of Gotland on the south-eastern coast of Sweden. It is now distributed throughout Sweden, Europe and the US. Coat colors are commonly dun, bay, chestnut or black. The Gotland Pony is hardy and energetic, and makes a good all-round pony often used as a riding pony for children or as a harness racing pony.
