References
Gelderlander Originating in the Dutch Province of Gelderland, the Gelderlander is a horse derived from extensive crossbreeding, both of native breeds and imported horses of breeds such as the Thoroughbred, Hackney, Oldenburg. The purpose behind the original Gelderlander was to produce an animal well-suited to light farm work and road harness. Despite its substantial body, the Gelderlander is light on its feet and prized as a harness horse. Modern horses of this breed are making a name for themselves as excellent jumpers, likely due to the breed’s Thoroughbred influence. The average Gelderlander stands between 15.2 and 16 hands. These horses are mostly chestnut or gray, but are most well known for being chestnut with extensive white markings, particularly on the face and legs. Source: Link
