"Freedoms Jolie Prize" is an example of a shire horse with a buckskin coat. Many decades ago the AHSA allowed a breed up program due to the scarcity of shires in the country. This allowed mares of unknown percentage who fit the description of the shire to breed, this is where the buckskin comes from. Jolies DNA confirms she cares the dilute gene for buckskin. While this color is rare in the breed it is possible!
