References
Shagya Arabian The Shagya was developed in Poland during the 19th century. It has a very high percentage of Arabian blood, but some people do not consider it a purebred arabian because of the infusion of other breeds such as Thoroughbred and lippizanner. They are similar to pure bred arabians in many ways. They have strong bone, excellent endurance, dished faces, and high set tails. Unlike other types of Arabians, they tend to be taller – standing between 15 and 16 hands – and are less refined with thicker bone. They are most commonly gray but can also be bay, chestnut, and black.
