New to the hobby but so excited!

Hi, I'm The_Horsey_Swiftie and I've been collecting Schleich for 4 years now (since 2020) and I've only been collecting Breyer for a few months, and I have over 120 Schleich and 58 Breyers! I am super excited as I'm hoping to enter a couple of the upcoming and open photo shows! I want to try live showing, but all of the shows are either hours away from me or in a whole different country, but I still want to do photo showing!

Hi, and welcome! You should love this site. I'm in the same boat -- no live shows within a day's drive so I only photo show. OMHPS has been great for showing my models.

I collect a little of everything but mostly Breyer and Stone with a few CollectAs and WIA models in both OF and custom. I also have a few resins.

Have fun!

Hi Zialander! Thank you! I don't collect Stones or WIA as they are too expensive (especially Stones)! I would be willing to fly on a plane to try live showing but I've heard that Breyers could get air bubbles in the paint so that's a no-no too!

Welcome to OMHPS :)

Flying with Breyers is totally doable, once the paint is on there is no concern with getting air bubbles. The only time I've ever heard of similar happening is if you have bubblewrap around a model, facing inwards, and the model is in extremely high temperatures that melts the paint/finish. Even then, factory paint is usually safe, it's aftermarket paint and finish that has it worst. I've flown to live shows with suitcases full of Breyers multiple times and have never had any issues. I wrote an article about it in JAH, the Breyer magazine, in 2022 if you're interested in knowing more info on how it's done.

If you have the chance, I do recommend live showing, but photo showing is a great alternative and the most safe for the models for sure!

Hi pipapones! Thank you so much, this was really helpful! I think I'll probably try making some cheap pony pouches to fly to live shows as I want to try it more than I want to try photo showing! Luckily the closest I have to customs is a few of the paint your own Stablemates!
