2nd Annual Run for the Roses Thoroughbred Specialty

Sunday, April 23, 2023 5:19 PM

The 2nd Annual Run for the Roses Thoroughbred Specialty Show opens for registration tomorrow, April 24th (or late tonight depending on your time zone) and closes for registration on May 7th. This will be a free show.

It will again feature three divisions:

Gender (halter) - halter classes by gender and age. Six sections by finish and scale.

Workmanship - all scales and finishes for acceptable Thoroughbred colors. Two Sections by Solid and Patterns. (Multiple classes for popular colors/patterns.)

Action (halter) - halter classes according to pose type. Two Sections by scale.

This show is for purebred Thoroughbreds only. The classes will be similar to last year's show, except some of the classes have been combined due to very few entries last year. It will be at the judges' discretion to split any class.

Each model can be entered in each division once, for a total of three entries in the show.

Each exhibitor can enter up to 5 different models in each class.

Classes are again being limited to 100 entries each (so enter early, if you can!)

Standard OMHPS virtual ribbons for 1st - 10th in each class, Section Champion and Reserve, Division Champion and Reserve. (I'm looking into possibly also awarding model neck ribbons for Division Champs and Reserves, and I'll post an update here and on the Discord channel if that becomes a reality.)

SPECIAL NOTES

In workmanship this year, a Tobiano class has been added because there is now documented proof that registered Tobiano Thoroughbreds are being bred in the UK.

"Sabino" has been added as an allowable color under the Dominant White/White Spotted classes, because of the confusion in last year's show. (The Thoroughbred breed does not actually carry the SB-1 sabino gene, but because so many identify their Thoroughbreds as sabino, this pattern will be included in those classes this year.)

As with last year's show, the goal will be to have this show completed on or around the beginning of June, if not sooner.

The link is below. Please contact me if you have any question. I will monitor my PMs via this site during the registration period. If you email me (contact info in show listing), please include "ROSES" in the subject line so I can spot your emails quickly in my inbox. I'll do my best to address any questions quickly.
