The American Drum Horse may be of any color, including pinto. It derives from cross-breeding of Clydesdale, Vanner,and Shire stock. It is a large, athletic riding horse that ideally stands 16 HH or taller. It is muscular but not overly bulky, allowing it to compete in a wide range of disciplines. Feathering is required of the breed, it should begin above the fetlock joint and cover the hoof. abundant hair is preferable and, ideally, should not be trimmed. Docking of the tail is not allowed.
